More Cherry Blossoms!

This will be my third cherry blossom piece. Wasn't sure I could create something new but once I got thinking about it the ideas started to come. Several things inspired me; a photo, some fabrics, the process of creating the blossoms with free motion embroidery, and couching. I find working with textured threads so much fun. Varigated threads in particular can create such interesting results. I began with some sketches, made a rice paper pattern for the background and the blossom shapes. My fabric stash had lot bits to choose from. I find it fascinating that even though I buy fabrics without a design in mind, my choices inevitably end up in a project. Having a big stash does have advantages, although storage is always an issue!
