So excited! I found a shop in the International Village that sells textiles from Kashmir; Silk Route Treasures. The silk shawls are exquisite. There was also a variety of scarves, blouses, pillow covers and wall hangings. The embroidery was done in silk in traditional patterns. I bought a Tree of Life hanging that I have since read is a very characteristic theme in Kashmir designs. I couldn't resist 2 pillow covers and a shawl. I am such a sucker for silk!
The genuine Pashmina shawls were kept under the counter. The owner brought them out and let us feel them.....ooh my! p.s. There is the best dollar store in the International Village...Japanese Washi paper with dried flowers embedded in it for $2.00 a sheet! ( well, looks like Washi paper, who knows what it is made of)
